Recent workshop work · panel refinishing from prep to gloss
These panels were refinished off the vehicle so the edges, recesses and difficult areas could be accessed properly. The new footage gives a much better look at both halves of the job: the preparation underneath and the finished gloss afterwards.
What happens between those two points?
The exact system changes with the substrate and condition, but the principle is consistent: clean → sand and prepare → prime where required → refine → colour → clear → inspect and finish. Preparation is what gives the visible finish a sound foundation.
For removable parts, taking them off the vehicle can give better access to edges and recesses, reduce awkward masking lines and make the finished coverage more complete.

How much does a panel respray cost?
Single-panel resprays start from $599, with the final price depending on the size of the panel, preparation, colour, blending and any extra bodywork required.
Can you respray a panel off the vehicle?
Yes, where removing the part helps access edges, recesses or reverse areas. The right approach depends on the panel and the job.
Can panel refinishing be done mobile?
Suitable paintwork can be completed mobile where space and conditions are appropriate. Jobs needing a more controlled setup are completed workshop-based in Moolap.
When is polishing enough instead?
If the paint is still sound and the concern is swirls, haze or shallow defects, paint correction may be the better first step.
The preparation is individual to the car.
Scratches, dents, peeling clear, rust and previous repairs can all change the work beneath the finish. We’ll inspect the panel, explain the preparation and include any necessary blending in your quote.
